Initial Concept
San Luis is a rare place, a beacon of heritage, community, and longevity for southern Colorado. Perhaps the most unique piece of San Luis history is that of the Acequia, a symbol and instrument of the shared water use the town holds to this day. This tradition grants every resident of San Luis communal access to water, a 'right of thirst.'

This design takes inspiration from the acequias as singular channels serving many different purposes for many different people. This takes form as a flowing wood structure from which walls, shaded vendor spaces, gateways, and even a stage emerge, serving the many social groups and functions this region has with a single architectural structure.
